Who the devil ARE you??!!LadyLucy | November 1, 2017 - 9:01 PM General
My name is Lucy - nice to ‘meet’ you! I would like to get a conversation going about who we are, why we’re here, where we live and what our back pain story is. Mainly just so we can get to know each other a bit, so we can support and help each other.
So, my back pain started in April 2016 and by the end of January 2017, I’d had 2 herniated discs, one of which calcified onto my sciatic nerve, foot drop, loss of feeling in one leg and foot, one discectomy, one torn sciatic nerve, two cerebrospinal fluid leaks, necessitating two further spinal surgeries, one sagging brain, one spinal drain, six weeks in hospital... and a partridge in a pear tree!!
I live near Manchester in the UK and I have to say, I’m SO glad I found Backernation via Instagram, or I might have gone nuts by now!!
Anyone else want to join in? Don’t leave a girl hanging...! :-)4 Likes

HI Lucy... You have been through quite the journey. You are quite the warrior. So glad you found us too. I'm the founder of BackerNation. I have had my own challenges too with 4 herniations on the same disc (L4-L5) and 4 operations with my most recent being an artificial disc (the others were micro-discectomies). The dark days of recovery from my first 2 operations were the real inspiration to create a digital support platform for back pain and spine issues. Thanks for sharing and being part of the BackerNation family. If you ever need anything, don't hesitate to reach out to myself or the rest of the BackerNation team.

I’m over here now LOL. Reading your intro about your pain journey really shows how strong you are. You have gone through it! So for that, I’m inspired. Thank you for sharing by the way, truly
I connected with BackerNation and it was the greatest decision of my life. I’ve learned so much and get to meet amazing people just like you. Growing up, my dad was always hurting and now to really understand the depth of his herniated discs, multiple back surgeries and even longer recoveries, it’s crazy to think what he lives with. I have nerve pain in my legs and it’s freaking awful. Especially at night. Ever since a car accident (which left me with driving anxiety lol) my lower back and neck were never the same. So gaining the knowledge I have from BN thus far has truly been life changing.
I would never leave you hanging! Interested in hearing some replies. Let me say again, you are a rock star. Here’s to healing and happiness —together my new friend.
